Dear Editor
I am trying to enter your ski competition but after clicking on www.musicchoice.co.uk/ntlxmascomp I keep getting the message: "this page cannot be found". Can you help?
Roy Rogers
ED: We have also received a large number of letters complaining about the lack of access to the skiing competition we featured. Most of the competitions we run are on behalf of a third party, in this case it was Music Choice.
Unfortunately there was an error within the competition link on their site.
We understand that this is not ideal and are looking into it to find a better solution for future issues. Apologies to all those skiing buffs out there who had their hopes up.

Hello. As a pensioner, and not a very rich one at that... I would like to know why Broadband is dearer than dial-up.
I know you would like everyone to be on broadband, but as I am unlikely to download either music or games, is there not a rate at which we pensioners could enjoy broadband?
I have to be honest, if you increase dial-up again I will be looking to revert to 1p a minute to save on the cost as I also have your telephone and TV package.
Any ideas?
Ian Kiddie
ED: Thanks for writing in.
I am sure there are many people who share your feelings.
The problem is that until you have tried using Broadband it is difficult to see the value in it. It costs a little more because you have a dedicated connection to the internet that allows information to be transferred much faster than with dial-up. The benefit of this is that you can access the internet immediately
without waiting for your modem to dial-up
, which can take a few frustrating minutes.
The increase in speed is not only beneficial for downloading large files like mp3s, but also makes a huge difference when simply browsing the web.
Activities like shopping online become really quick and easy. We have found that people who upgrade to Broadband use the internet more, because it is easier to access and much more convenient.
Dial-up may be ideal for you, being the lower cost service, but Broadband is certainly worth considering.
Why not take a look at www.ntl.com to find out more about Broadband and what it can do for you.

Dear Editor
Brilliant!!!
I have just read your articles on internet and email safety. I have been a past victim of rogue diallers and along with everyone else, have also experienced pop-up hell ! I found your articles informative and really helpful in a practical way. I have been getting close to the point of giving up on internet and email, always having to debate whether or not to open or download something for fear of viruses, but your advice has really helped.
Mainly though, it is great to get links from you, as a trustworthy source, to websites which provide security or pop-up blocking programs,
which I can be sure are safe and not some sort of 'trick' or hoax leading to more viruses etc. *** big thumbs up NTL***
Thank-you, you have helped restore my faith in the e-world !!

Dear Editor
I dont know if this is the correct place to write this letter. However, here goes.
At this time of year many of your readers will be given power tools for Christmas, and doubtless having watched episodes on Discovery Home and leisure will be impatient to use them.
This time of year sees an increase in accidents due to incorrect or careless use of tools.
I would like to remind users to always take the necessary safety precautions to protect their hearing - use ear defenders; sight - use BS standard safety goggles; fingers - unplug power tools before changing cutters etc.
One H&L programme recently showed an individual using a MIG electric arc welding set whilst wearing incorrect safety equipment,
namely - oxyacetylene goggles (arc eye, cataracts or even skin cancer could be the result). The presenter used a metal grinding disc while he had his protective goggles perched on top of his head (not much protection if the wheel shattered).
So do not always believe what you see.

Dear Editor
The free broadband upgrade was amazing, imagine, from 150k to 300... awesome!
My net surfing is better and millions of customers are surely satisfied with these free upgrades. More power NTL!
ED: That's progress for you. Choose ntl if you want to remain at the cutting edge.
